Inspiration is the rationale behind the scale
of Maitreya Project. By the Buddha’s own
explanation, ‘holy objects’, for example,
statues, stupas, and religious paintings,
provide a uniquely powerful means by which
we can imbue our minds with the positive
imprints essential for spiritual progress and
well-being.
The more inspiring the holy object the
more people will see it, hear of it, and have
the chance to benefit from it. During at least
1,000 years countless people will be inspired
and blessed by the sheer size of the Maitreya
statue and the art inside the throne building
and surrounding park.
Like other ancient monuments throughout
the ages, the Maitreya Buddha statue will
provide the world with an enduring influence.
It has the potential to inspire the generation
of loving-kindness in everyone who sees the
